I am curious to know how it is that we can read stories offline and when we log back in, Medium will credit the writer with every post we read.

How do they know what to give that writer if they do not have trackers in place to know how much of the story we read, for what length of time etc.?

I found it odd that they would promote this feature. Or, does reading offline mean less is given to a writer because we cannot highlight as example? All of this feels off to me.
