Why are you changing the narrative? The act of changing the narrative disrespects Elyse, first and foremost.

This is her story to tell – told her way. Her feelings. Her thoughts. Her right to be heard.

Changing the narrative takes the focus away from a Black person speaking /writing about her truth and experience to redirect elsewhere.

There is a time and a place for everyone’s story to be heard. It’s not now and specifically not here.
