In my circle of friends and family, many are single, in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Not in a relationship and enjoy it that way. They may have been in relationships, but it doesn't stop them from living.

This may be cultural and, if so, it's a shame to treat anyone in this manner. Marriage is not a given.
