Hi Claudia, agree, courtesy and respect are to be given, regardless of gender. The sidewalk rule where I live i,s walk on the right, allow people to pass on the left:)
The men push strollers, often without their partner beside them. .They carry flowers:)
And I carry my child when in a tight street ~ they do not walk behind me because I cannot see them or what is happening behind my back. Always in front of me to protect them:)
