Hi Natalie, I hear you ~ would have cringed at the invite. Pageants still sexual and fed into patriarchal mindsets:(
Under the guise of health and fitness, there is still a focus on the “beauty” part of a pageant. 😔
But my thoughts changed after a friend’s daughter won recently at a national level.
She is brilliant, graduated with honours. And needed to be educated to win her crown.
This girl, as all the others, worked hard ~ they work them hard ! and she didn’t win by looks alone.

On the plus side:
She received monetary prizes and endorsements towards her further studies, charity of choice, education and work opportunities. She travels the world.
It opens doors for her.
And she loves it!

Do I want the swimsuit BS abolished?
YES.
These girls, given the chance, can change our world.
We as a society, need to remove the barriers by abolishing the BS we put women through.
