Absence of love—in all it’s forms— will ripple across all the generations to come. Until there is the one who sees and breaks the cycle: of emotionally absent, unavailable adults who, as Mothers (and Fathers), are still acting from the child who was never properly loved. Those who suffer cannot see the suffering of another.
To give love to another is to be able to love one’s self first. You cannot give what you do not have to give from within. When we have not been loved in the way we needed—which is accepting that we are all human—we can begin to heal by giving compassion to ourselves. Giving self-love with conscious intention. Healing what needs healing.
Love yourself for taking the first step. Your questioning everything, now, is how we begin to change our lives. How we model love is what our children will believe to be true and set forth for every future generation.
